Dear Parents,
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is pleased to report that at this time no additional furlough days will be added to the 2011-12 school calendar. Therefore, the TENTATIVE non student days (March 19, April 6 and May 25) listed on the district published calendar will not have to be implemented and, thus, students will not have to miss additional instructional days.
The non-student/employee furlough day on March 16, 2012 remains as scheduled. Please click here for the 2011-2012 school year calendar.
Please note that these TENTATIVE furloughs were scheduled due to the precarious State budget situation, which could still change at any time. Should that occur and affect instructional days, we will notify parents. For now, we encourage you to keep informed of news from Sacramento since we anticipate even more State cuts in the coming 2012-2013 school year. A budget page with the latest news is now on our website at http://www.pylusd.org/budget/.
Finally, I also want to express appreciation to our district and employee associations who worked collaboratively with the district to identify these possible additional furlough days should they be needed. As you may be aware, furlough days result in a reduction in pay for employees.
