Did You Hear? – Yinghan (Edward) Tang (alto sax) has been selected to be a member of this year’s Tournament of Roses Honor Band. Over 500 high school students from all over Southern California auditioned. This is the 83rd consecutive appearance of the Honor Band in The Tournament of Roses Parade. Congratulations, Edward!
Our YLHS International Thespian Society Troupe 7766 - participated with over 291 thespian troupes from 40 states in the TOTS-EAT campaign. With our students help, the program raised over 354,000 pounds of food for community members in need. Thank you, Cathy Petz, advisor and your students for “caring” and “sharing” your time and energy to “get connected” with our community.
Thinking about our Thespian Troupe – Don’t forget the YLHS Theatre Department, under the direction of Cathy Petz, will be performing “The Miracle Worker” from December 11 – 15 at 7:00 p.m. in our Forum Theater, with an afternoon presentation on December 15 at 2:00 p.m. Make sure you take time to see how talented our students are in the performing arts!!
For Your Holiday Planning - Our music groups will be performing this holiday season on December 18. Band and Orchestra are in the gym and Choir will perform in the Forum Theater. 7:00 p.m. is the “down beat”.
Congratulations to our Fine Arts Department – Brent Hendry, Kelly Fritz, Carol Carson and Richard Cadra. Last week their students swept the Teen Yorba Linda Library Art Contest, winning all top spots in the drawing and painting and photography categories! Painting and Drawing winners were: Colleen Smith (first), Ronni Sardina (second), Mya Kough (third), Karen Xu (honorable mention) and Kaitlin Brenchley (honorable mention). Photography winners were: Brenton Hudak (first), Rebecca Mangiaracina (second), Alexandra Millsap (third), Dylan Reyes (honorable mention) and Christian Galindo (Best in Show). Art entries were on display at the Nixon Library and Museum.
