Congratulations to Jeff Bailey and the football team -for the 23-10 victory over Esperanza last Friday night to a sold out crowd.

Congrats to the Men’s Water Polo team and Coach Shardad for their 13-5 victory over Esperanza immediately before the football game. Way to go Mustangs!!

A Big Thank You to Everyone for Back to School 2013 - At latest count we had 993 parents on campus for Back to School Night. As I walked around, I saw many classes with standing room only. Comments from the parents, along with many, many thank you’s, included:
  • Great organization and student helper
  • Always great to meet the teachers
  • Enthusiastic
  • Fast and informational
  • Very engaged staff
  • What an amazing place!!
  • Teachers are phenomenal
  • Great Night – Love It!
A Big Thank You to Joey, Shea, Terry and Claudia for all their planning and Fred and his crew for making our campus look GREAT and ASB/Link Crew and all our student helpers to guide parents to the classrooms – and last but not least – Noah and Kino for watching our parking lots.

based on the PSAT. Congratulations to:

More Great News for YLHS – We just received the 2013 College Board Senior Profile Report for YLHS. SAT results for our graduating Class of 2013 are:
  • Overall Scores # of Test Takers Critical Reading Math Writing
  • YLHS 326 541 580 535
  • Statewide 234,767 498 512 495
  • Nationwide 1,660,047 496 514 488
As you can see, our seniors placed well above the state and national mean scores for the 2013 college-bound senior. Our seniors requested the SAT results be sent to over 45 colleges and universities. Several of the more popular are:
  • CSF Cal Polly UCSD Chapman Arizona State
  • UCI USC CSLB SDSU USD
  • UCSB UCLA UC Berkeley

ACT College readiness for YLHS is also reporting that 155 of our seniors took the curriculum-based tests for educational development in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. YLHS students’ readiness for College-Level Coursework is as follows:
  • College English Composition YLHS - 90% State - 72%
  • College Algebra YLHS - 83% State - 58%
  • College Social Science YLHS - 77% State - 51%
  • College Biology YLHS - 64% State - 41%
