A Big Thank You - to our YLHS PTSA who has donated $4,000 to maintain out YLHS website and $5,000 to purchase benches for our campus. Their support of our school is amazing. New benches will be placed on campus where our students are meeting during lunchtime. Kristen You, PTSA President, and her board members are dedicating many, many hours and funding to make YLHS the best it can be!
Congratulations to YLHS Band, Drums and Color Guard – for their 1st Place Finish at the Loara
Tournament in Anaheim last weekend. This is a great fall tournament with bands and color guards from all over Southern California.
TONIGHT - the YLHS Sinfonia Orchestra will join the EHD, EDHS and VHS orchestras for a night of wonderful string music. This is a FREE concert and will be held at the new District Performing Arts Center (at El Dorado) at 7:00 p.m. If you were not able to attend the GALA, this is your opportunity to listen to some great music by our musicians and see the new Performing Arts Center!
Don’t Forget – Band Pageant is This Week - If you want to see our amazing band students perform, be sure to save Wednesday, November 6th on your calendar. The annual district band pageant will take place this Wednesday, November 6th at 7:00 p.m. at Bradford Stadium. The pageant will feature more than 1,200 students performing in bands, dance teams, color guards and identification units from all PYLUSD middle and comprehensive high schools. Pre-sale tickets are $5 and can be purchased from band members. Tickets will also be available at the event for $6. Proceeds go to the music programs in the district.

Did you Hear? – the OC Register has a laptop program in collaboration with OCDE and PTSA that will provide a chrome book laptop “free” to schools for each new subscriber or upgrade to a 7-day subscription. For more information, stop by the front office for an application.
For Your Planning – Career Day 2013 – November 13th - We have over 50 community members coming on campus to talk with our students. Career presentations include a pilot, judge, USMC, Firefighter, DEA Agent – just to name a few. This will be a great day for students and our community!
