Congratulations - again – to Joey Davis - for his promotion to Director of Assessment and Accountability for the PYLUSD. Joey has been a cornerstone for YLHS in technology, 500 building modernization, WASC Report, Distinguished School Award and making sure the YLHS staff has all the instructional materials they need as we transition to Common Core and new smarter balance assessment. A BIG THANK YOU, JOEY, AND GOOD LUCK IN YOUR NEW POSITION. I am sure we will be seeing you as you help everyone in the PYLUSD prepare for new state assessments.
With this change, Lorri Walls will help us during the transition by stepping into the AP Curriculum position for the rest of the school year. Lorri will be helping with textbooks, curriculum, testing, supervision, and “other duties as assigned”.
Kim Houg, former high school counselor at Esperanza, will step into Lorri’s position for the 2nd semester. Kim has the experience and expertise to cover all of the counseling responsibilities for our students. “Welcome Kim!”
Did You Hear? - YLHS Vocal Concert was a great evening. There were so many requests for tickets that Carol Gilfoy, Vocal Music Director, had to add a second show last Wednesday evening. Congratulations on terrific performances of holiday music by our YLHS students and choir groups from YLMS. “Happy Holidays”
Come Enjoy! – YLHS Band and Orchestra Holiday Concert - Our instrumental programs, band and
orchestra, under the Direction of Bincins Garcia and Phil Mortensen, will perform this Thursday, October 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in the YLHS gym. Great holiday music to put you in the spirit of the season and celebrate the end to the 2013 year! Admission is FREE.
