Congratulations – Class of 2014 Valedictorians – Raquel Buscaino and Eric Chiang and Salutatorians - Paige Gulley and Vivian Pham! - Yorba Linda High School’s selection process focuses on the “most outstanding scholars in the graduating class”. Using grade point average, number of honor and AP courses completed and dedication to extend their educational experience beyond the normal six-period day, these four students have risen to the top of 447 seniors at YLHS. Yorba Linda High School earns “Silver” - #5 Ranking - by the Orange County Register – “2014 Best Public Schools Ranking of 70 campuses” published on March 16th. The ranking is designed to show which local campuses provide “the richest academic experience and strongest environment for learning. The Register uses about 40 factors based on the latest available data from the California Department of Education and the federal Blue Ribbon database. Schools are awarded scores for academics, college/career preparation and school environment. YLHS made its first appearance in
the Register at #5. The Register article highlights our high academic performance, community pride and our commitment to engage all of our students in the high school experience. Congratulations students, staff and YL community!!
A Big Thank You to our PTSA Student Leadership Sponsors – Janis Heckel and Marnie Jenican - for coordinating Mustang Pride Day last Saturday. Along with our PSTA Student Leadership group and ASB, we had over 200 students and parents that showed up to beautify our campus!! Thanks again for taking pride in YLHS!!
2014 Principal of the Day is Wendy Robinson - She will be on campus this Wednesday morning to observe all the great programs offered at YLHS.
CA High School Exit Exam - CAHSEE will take place Tuesday and Wednesday in our gym. All of our 10th grade class will take the exam in Math and Language Arts. Check in for our sophomores’ starts at 7:45 a.m. in the gym foyer and the test will last approximately four hours. YLHS’ pass rate on this exam averages 96 – 97% every year. A Big Thank You, Lorri Walls and Kathy Rodieck for coordinating the exam and to YLHS staff for preparing our students to pass this graduation requirement.
Did you Hear? - YLHS Mustang Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 took first place at the Esperanza Jazz Festival. Congratulations Band Director, Bincins Garcia, and Jazz 1 and Jazz 2!!
YLHS PTSA - will be asking for staff input on curricular and co-curricular programs they can support with the purchase of educational materials. Department chairs will get the request form.
