Last year, we put on our first "I Have A Dream" Speech contest and
•raised about $450 in donations for tornado victims in Moore, Oklahoma
•awarded $450 in scholarships (donated by the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club) to YLHS students
•listened to our students beautifully raise awareness about issues concerning
•social media,
•discrimination,
•violence in society,
•cystic fibrosis,
•suicide prevention,
•gender inequality in sports,
•immigration reform,
•the power of kindness,
•cruelty to animals,
•the power of one’s potential,
•homophobia and
•education.
This year's focus was to raise money to help build water holes in South Sudan.
Tryouts were held to assure that the audience would drive home from the contest with an overwhelmingly wonderful feeling. This year did not disappoint.
