Great job everyone!
The Orange County Constitutional Rights Foundation – “Mock Trial” - will present awards on February 6th to students, Kelsey Cooper and Elizabeth Tipping. Both students are part of the very first YLHS Mock Trial Team that defeated four other high school teams in our first season of competition. “The students on your school’s team showed commitment and dedication to the goals and challenges of the Mock Trial program,” quoted the CRF Foundation. Congratulations Kelsey and Elizabeth, along with teacher/advisors, Lisa Tully and Noelle Toxqui.
Did you Know? – our very own Terry Kerans was one of 27 PYLUSD employees who won a “Fitbit Flex” for her participation in the “Maintain, Don’t Gain” campaign over the holidays. Great job, Terry!
A Big Thank You - to Shea, ASB and staff who planned and participated in “The Battle of the Sexes” week. It was fun to see students involved in all the activities and rally.
YLHS Application for 2015 California Gold Ribbon School - will be mailed on January 20th. Our report focuses on academic content and performance standards with the schoolwide “Step-Up-To-Writing” program and the Common Core State Standards. A Big, Big Thank You to Stacy Shube, Sarah Shay, Scott Mazurier and Jamie Jauch for the long days spent gathering data and writing our application. In addition, our team took on the challenge to complete the “Exemplary Arts Education” application by January 20th in hopes that our Fine Arts Department will receive special recognition for all of the classes in Fine Arts and opportunities provided to our students. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and look for the OC County Department of Ed to visit our campus in March with the award!
