As We Head Into the Final Week of Our First Semester of 2017-18, Just a Couple of Reminders:
1. Finals schedule starts Tuesday, January 23rd with special full day schedule for testing period 1 & 2. Wednesday, January 24th and Thursday, January 25th are minimum days starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 12:27 p.m. Friday, January 26th is a non-student day.
2. Make sure your Aeries grades/assignments are up to date as parents look at their student’s progress heading into finals week.
Monday, January 29th – Start of 2nd Semester: - Students will pick up new locators before school in the quad. Student Services has made a few changes to balance classes for 2nd semester.
Congratulations to YLHS Advanced Video Production Class - The 15th annual Orange County Film Festival showcased films from 16 OC schools and handed out awards in 23 categories. Mr. Cadra’s students were nominated in 15 categories. Winners:
• Nick Murrell – Best Broadcast Anchor (cohost with Alex)
• Andy Martinez – Best Cinematographer – Bedhead
• Nick Franklyn – Best Independent Film, Best Cinematographer, Best Original Score – Bedhead
• Alex Lee – Best Broadcast Anchor (cohost with Nick), Best Short Film, Best Story Narrative, Best Actor
– Inside of Hope (yes – Alex wrote, directed and starred in this film). AND last – Filmmaker of the Year
– the MOST prestigious of the night

2017-18 YLHS Olympics - YLHS Student/Staff Olympics started Tuesday with “Chalk Art” in the center quad. Today was “Frisbee golf”. Future competitions will include office tennis, horse play, Jenga (2/1), bean bag toss (2/6) and water balloon toss. Olympic “gold” will be awarded at the Olympic Rally on Thursday, February 8th. Thank you to Rey Lejano, Shea Runge, ASB and all staff members who sign up to participate in each competition. Great to be a Mustang!!
YLHS Musical Theater “Cabaret” – this Friday night, January 19th, in the Forum Theater @ 7:00 p.m.
