ADDITIONAL ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
 
The goal of Yorba Linda High School is to assist each student to become a productive and effective citizen in our democratic society. We believe that a quality education will benefit the student in his or her future endeavors. In our experiences we have found that there is a direct correlation existing between a students attendance habits and his or her academic success. It is vitally important that students attend school on a consistent basis. The Yorba Linda High School Attendance Policies have been established to provide motivation for our students to be in attendance so that they may achieve their full potential.

Important to Know

Late Arrival or Full-Day Absence 

(student has not arrived on campus).

Parent/guardian must clear the absence using one of these methods:

  • Call the Attendance Absence Line: (714) 986-7500 ext. 14030
  • Signed Parent Note (turn into the Attendance Office when student returns)
  • Absence must be cleared within 48 hours of the student’s return.

  • Attendance window opens at 7:00 a.m. Students should arrive early enough to check in and get to class on time.

  • Waiting in line does not excuse tardiness to class.

  • After 48 hours, the absence becomes a permanent truancy, and disciplinary hours are assigned.

Student needs to leave campus during the school day. 

Obtain an Off-Campus Pass from the Attendance Office before leaving. Parent/guardian must provide written authorization to include:

  • Date
  • Exact time to leave (e.g.,10:27a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:18 p.m.)
  • Reason for leaving (doctor, dentist, personal, etc.)
  • Parent/guardian signature

Off Campus Request Form 

  • Students are to drop off the signed parent note in the morning before class. 

  • Off-Campus Passes are issued before school, during break, and during lunch.

  • Leaving without an Off-Campus Pass will result in permanent truancy and disciplinary consequences.

Senior with an approved Lunch Pass.

If a senior will not return to campus for 5th and/or 6th period, the student must do one of the following before leaving campus:

  • Obtain an Off-Campus Pass from the Attendance Office, or
  • Have a parent/guardian call the Attendance Office at (714) 986-7500 ext. 14030 by 3:20 p.m. that day.
  • Must be completed before leaving school campus or parent/guardian must call by 3:20 p.m.

  • A Lunch Pass does not replace an Off-Campus Pass.

  • Missed period(s) will be recorded as truant if no Off-Campus Pass or parent call is received.

Student becomes ILL During School.

Student MUST report to the Health Office for evaluation.

Student must receive clearance from Health Office before leaving campus.


If a student has not been cleared to leave, it becomes a truant resulting in disciplinary consequences.
